Ayr offered a different side of Australia - the real, working Australia that most tourists never see. Surrounded by endless sugar cane fields, this small town has its own unique charm.
The Burdekin River provided stunning sunset views, and day trips to the nearby reef and Magnetic Island added adventure to the relaxed country pace. The locals were some of the friendliest I've ever met.
